The WNBA is back y’all and I had so much fun yesterday watching all of these games. It felt good to see the best ballers compete against each other again. What I really appreciated was the Hoop Streams prior to the game with Lachina, Holly and Chiney.
WE ARE BACK!

All morning I was like man I wish there was a pregame show or something I could watch because we know it was not going to be on TV so I was very thankful for the stream. Now let’s get into the action.
We finally got to see Sabrina Ionescu debut as a WNBA player and I am glad we have gotten that out of the way. Look yall I love the pub, but come on there is so much more happening in the league. I am interested to see how she will progress with time, but I do not believe we will get to see her true potential this season with the limited roster and now being without Kia Nurse for a while with an ankle sprain.
Can we talk about Layshia Clarendon though?! She led the Liberty with 20 points and she was tough out there! It was good to see her back in action. The Libs could be a problem later on, but I just do not believe they will be able to handle the rest of what the league is bringing.
How good was it to see Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart back in action?! My goodness Seattle was a sight to see and they are stacked!!! Lesson were taught on that floor yesterday and the Storm were the teachers. 4 players scored in double digits led by Stewie with 18 points. It was almost like the championship Storm have not missed a beat and dare I say have gotten stronger. We shall see.
Storm win 87-71.
The second matchup was the game that I was looking forward to. I could not wait to see what these LA Sparks were going to look like. I am not going to lie to you guys. I wanted Phoenix to lose and I wanted them to lose bad, but they held up until the third quarter where they were outscored 30-8!
My goodness, the game got away and the mighty Mercury could not recover from that. LA is my second favorite team and people were already asking for a finals between Phoenix and LA, no thanks! I am not with that. The battles between these teams are always a sight to see. It was good to see DT and her bun back on the court. Diggins-Smith made a good debut in her purple.
However, the issue with continue to be the same if other players outside the big three cannot step up. Once Griner is in foul trouble, the Merc are vulnerable. The Sparks were not playing around and were led by the most efficient president Nneka Ogwumike!
Sparks looking scary this season 👀
Nneka Ogwumike finishes perfect from the field

Also, how about Brittney Sykes who put on a show?! Including a block on BG! Ooh weee 5’9 block on a 6’9, did she have springs in her shoes?!
5’9” Brittney Sykes denied 6’9” Brittney Griner 😳

Sparks take game 99-76.
The Washington Mystics, played like they had a championship to defend. People did not expect them to look as good as they did but my goodness, they dominated the Fever. Fever have had less time to get ready and are missing to key pieces so I will just leave it at that. It was good to see the Mystics look so mystical ha. How about Myisha Hines-Allen coming through as player of the game dropping 27 and 10 on them!

The thing is that any of those players can pop off like that any night and I am ready for it!
Mystics dominates 101-76.
But of course it would not be the W if there was not some drama. The W was trending yall! all the way up to number 2 along with several different players throughout the day. The biggest issue was ESPN reporting that the players walked out of the national anthem, but they walked out prior. The report was false and the drama ensued.
This is not accurate. The teams decided to respectfully stay in the locker room for the anthem. This is not an accurate representation of what happened. As you can hear the anthem was NOT playing. @wnba @nyliberty @seattlestorm @espn https://t.co/Hqc20Ul0WE

But hey the W was talked about big yesterday and I am all for it. A friend brought up a good point that the people hating yesterday were not supporting it anyway, the main thing is that the W was trending and I love it.
So ya girl is 3-0 after game day one. Let’s see how day two goes. Did day one go as you planned? Let me hear it on the Twitter!
