Besides the amazing talent, the fans are the coolest thing about the WNBA. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with different fans on social. I think the stories of how those fans came to enjoy the WNBA are important.
This next WNBALove Story comes from Quentin. He is a Fever Fanatic that has never wavered his support. It was one of the reasons I was interested in hearing his story on how he became an Indiana Fever fan. In sports, there are so many fair weathered fans, Quentin is not one of them. The Fever have been through the best of times and some of the worst of times, either way Quentin will continue to support his Indiana Fever. “Hi. I became a fan of the WNBA & the Indiana Fever in 2003. I was 17. I looovvveeeddd me some Tamika Catchings. She’s amazing. A role model, an inspiration. Watched her while she was at Tennessee. And became an instant fan. She then got drafted to the Indiana Fever which made me pay attention to the WNBA & the Fever. I went to my first game when I ironically moved here to Indianapolis in 2008. In 2010, I became a season ticket holder, & I’ve been rocking with the Fever ever since. I was there for the 2009 Finals vs Phoenix. I was there for the 2011 Catchings MVP season. I was there for the 2012 WNBA Championship. I was there for the 2015 Finals vs. Minnesota. And I’ve been there for the not so good times as well. As I will continue to do so. I looovveeee the Indiana Fever & I love the WNBA. I’m glad the league is growing & I’m glad it’s being broadcasted more. Of course there’s still ppl who disrespect the league just because it’s women. But these women have stood up for themselves & proved why they deserve ALL THE RESPECT!!! These last few seasons for the Fever hasn’t been great. Or even good for that matter. However, I will forever & ever support the Indiana Fever. They will turn things around pretty soon & then I’ll remember these not so good times & see how far we’ve come. So keep sleeping on us! Hahaha. Other than the Catchings, my current favorite player right now is hands down Elena Delle Donne. She’s amazing. She sometimes reminds me of Catchings as she can do it all. Other than the Fever, which no other team will come close, but my other team that I like is the Chicago Sky. They’re also a fun team to watch. In my opinion, Indiana is the best organization in the league. We have the best arena in the league as well. Bankers Life Fieldhouse is awesome. My wish for the WNBA is that it will continue to grow & get the full respect that it deserves. These women work their butts off to perfect their craft which happens to be the game of basketball. They’re no different than these NBA players. Just because they’re women doesn’t make them any less than. In some cases, they work harder, they train harder & they’re fundamentally better. But that’s just my opinion. I really hope more people continue to give the WNBA a chance & the love they deserve because these women are the best athletes in the world. I also run the @FeverFanatics Twitter. So go follow me/us. Just a bunch of my Fever opinions & Fever happenings.” #GoFever #WNBA
